Helpful HintsObtaining Your Logo - If your logo (logotype) is not currently available to you in an electronic format, and you wish to submit it electronically, you have a number of options. If you have had business cards, brochures, or other corporate or group identity materials printed by a commercial printer, you should be able to obtain the files from them upon request. If the design work was done for you as a work for hire by an agency or individual other than the printer, you should be able to contact that person or agency and obtain the files. In either case, when you speak with them, be sure to specify that you need the file in one of the formats specified on the How to Send Your Logo page. Scanning Your Logo - If you have corporate or group identity materials for which you do not have the original files, and you wish to submit electronically, you will need to scan the materials to create the necessary files for submission. When you perform the scan, be sure to scan at a resolution of at least 300 DPI (dots per inch). Most scanner software will default to producing TIF files (see How to Send Your Logo), which may be submitted as is, or may be converted to JPG or GIF files. Either will be acceptable, and both will produce file sizes significantly smaller than the original TIF file if bandwidth is an issue for you (some email providers limit the maximum size of attachment files to 2MB) |
